Geology & Origin
Santa Eulalia near Chihuahua is one of Mexico’s classic mining districts and is particularly known for its mineral-rich hydrothermal deposits. Aragonite occurs there as a secondary calcium carbonate mineralisation in cavities and fractures within the ore-bearing rocks. Crystallisation from mineral-rich solutions can produce both compact aggregates and well-developed crystal groups.
