Amber; Sumatra, Indonesia; 1.5 kg; unique piece
Amber from Sumatra, Indonesia – 1.5 kg unique piece
This 1.5 kg single piece of Amber from Sumatra, Indonesia, presents itself as a massive, natural raw block with a distinctive organic structure. The surface shows typical irregular fracture patterns and resin characteristic flow textures. The color range is dominated by warm honey, ochre and brown tones with locally darker zones. Some areas appear translucent and allow light to pass gently through under suitable illumination.
The combination of substantial weight, natural shape and characteristic surface texture makes this specimen a striking collector’s and decorative piece with geological significance.
Geology & Origin
Amber is fossilized tree resin that exuded from injured trees millions of years ago and hardened under sedimentary burial. The deposits in Sumatra are related to Tertiary sedimentary sequences of Southeast Asia. Through pressure, temperature and chemical processes, the original resin transformed into the organic material known today. Sumatra Amber is known for its generally darker coloration and its compact, often structurally rich appearance.
