Altait with Sphalerite crystals from Bardzruni, Armenia – 1 unique flat.
This selection from Bardzruni in Armenia features an intriguing paragenesis of altait and sphalerite in compact and partially sparkling ore specimens. The gray-black to silvery altait (a rare telluride mineral) typically appears as fine disseminations or granular aggregates, often associated with reddish-brown to dark sphalerite. The contrast between the metallic luster of the telluride and the resinous sheen of the sphalerite creates an appealing aesthetic for collectors.
The Bardzruni deposit is a lesser-known but geologically significant locality in southern Armenia, noted for its tellurium-bearing ore minerals. This flat is especially suited for collectors of rare sulfides and tellurides from exotic regions.
