Adamite crystals (UV-active!) from Mapimí, Mexico – 1 flat
This flat contains several specimens with intense green adamite crystals on matrix. Under UV light the crystals display a strong green fluorescence, giving the pieces a particularly striking and collectible appearance. The contrasting crystal formations make the specimens highly attractive both in daylight and under UV illumination.
The pieces come from Mapimí in Mexico, a classic locality for adamite. This mineral is a zinc arsenate that typically forms in the oxidation zone of zinc deposits. Its vivid fluorescence makes adamite a popular collector’s mineral, especially from this world-renowned locality.
