Terlinguaite Crystals and Associated Minerals from Terlingua, Texas, USA – 1 unique flat.
This unique assortment features typical mineral parageneses from the historic mercury mining district of Terlingua in southwest Texas. The mostly coarsely crystallized pieces show greenish to yellowish coatings of Terlinguaite, occasionally accompanied by secondary mercury minerals such as cinnabar or calomel. The specimens often display opaque crusts and fine crystal coatings on dark matrix, with brecciated or banded textures adding further visual appeal.
Located in Brewster County, Texas, the Terlingua district is among the most renowned mercury deposits in North America. Terlinguaite is a rare halide mineral formed in the oxidation zones of mercury ore veins. Once heavily mined for mercury, the area is now a classic locality highly sought after by collectors. These specimens come directly from the historic Terlingua mining region.
