Sulfoborite crystal from Lake Inder, Kazakhstan. Micromount as unique piece for mineral collectors.

Sulfoborite is an extremely rare borate-sulfate mineral that has been documented at only a few localities worldwide. This specimen originates from the famous Lake Inder deposit in Kazakhstan—one of the classic sources of rare evaporite and borate minerals. It is offered here as a single collector-grade crystal.

The mineral exhibits its typical pale white to light gray color and displays a silky luster. Its fine fibrous to acicular crystal habit becomes especially striking under magnification. Due to its softness and sensitivity to humidity, Sulfoborite is considered a delicate specimen, often found in scientific or specialized mineral collections rather than general display cabinets.

Lake Inder is among the most significant localities globally for boron-rich minerals. The extreme salinity of the lake's evaporitic environment fosters the formation of rare and chemically unusual minerals. Sulfoborite, with its unique composition and formation context, holds scientific interest as well as collector appeal.

This crystal is a valuable addition for advanced mineral collectors and professionals interested in boron-bearing evaporites and minerals from the Soviet-era classic sites. Its documented origin, mineralogical significance, and visual features make it a noteworthy piece within any specialized mineral collection.
