Geology & Origin
Grape Agate is a form of Chalcedony characterized by its botryoidal, grape-like aggregates. These structures develop in cavities of volcanic rocks when silica-rich solutions crystallize over long periods of time. The Indonesian occurrences are particularly noted for their diverse color range and distinctive surface structures, which give the mineral its special aesthetic appeal.
