Intensely green with distinct violet inclusions – this large raw specimen displays the typical color contrast of ruby in zoisite, known exclusively from Tanzania. The interplay between embedded ruby zones and the emerald-green zoisite gives the piece a strong visual impact.

The material comes from Tanzania, the world’s most important locality for ruby in zoisite. The characteristic combination of green zoisite and embedded ruby forms there in metamorphic rocks under high pressure and temperature. Especially striking are the contrasting color zones, which already create a vivid appearance in the raw state.
