This flat contains a representative selection of rare mineral combinations from Mount Malosa in Malawi. Notable are dark green to black aegirine crystals on light feldspar or albite, accompanied by tabular zircon and reddish-brown to yellowish pyrochlore crystals. Many pieces show striking contrast and glossy crystal surfaces, making them particularly appealing for systematic collections.
Mount Malosa in southern Malawi is one of the world’s most important localities for alkaline rock minerals. The region’s pegmatites and nepheline syenites yield unique mineral associations, well illustrated by the specimens in this flat.
