Grape Agate; Indonesia; unique piece
Grape Agate from Indonesia – 6.66 kg unique piece
This beautiful specimen features a so-called “grape agate” from Indonesia, characterized by its spherical aggregates in shades of purple, green, and beige. The evenly developed globular formations resemble clusters of grapes, giving the piece a distinctly sculptural and almost organic appearance. An impressive and unique collector’s specimen with strong decorative appeal.
Geology & origin
The Indonesian grape agate is a form of chalcedony that forms in volcanic rocks through hydrothermal processes. The spherical shapes develop through concentric layering around microscopic crystallization nuclei. The main occurrences are found on Sulawesi and Java, where the material has long been appreciated both for mineral collections and lapidary use.
