Fossilized (petrified) wood polished bowl from Sumatra in Indonesia – 10 pieces
These pieces of fossilized wood from Sumatra has been skillfully crafted into polished decorative bowls. The warm shades of brown, beige and black, created through the mineralization of ancient wood, give the surface a natural yet elegant appearance. Each bowl displays unique grain patterns and color variations.
Geology & Origin
The fossilized wood from Sumatra formed through silicification of prehistoric trees that remained buried in sediment layers for millions of years. During this process, the organic structures were replaced by silica, transforming the original wood into a lasting fossil. Today, this material is one of Indonesia’s most appreciated fossils, valued by both collectors and for decorative purposes.
