Feldspar, Pseudomorph xls; Mt. Malosa, Zomba, Malawi; 1 unique flat
Feldspar and pseudomorph crystals, Mt. Malosa, Zomba, Malawi – 1 unique flat.
This flat features striking crystal formations and pseudomorphs from the pegmatite complex of Mount Malosa in Malawi. The feldspar crystals are well-formed, often displaying a distinctive grid-like surface structure in pale to beige-brown hues. Several specimens show classic pseudomorphs – including replacements of aegirine or other accessory minerals by feldspar – illustrating the complex geochemical environment of this location. Many pieces exhibit surface luster, matrix contact, or paragenetic associations with quartz and dark inclusions.
Mount Malosa is one of the most important localities for minerals from alkaline rocks and pegmatites in southern Africa. This unique flat offers a representative selection of uncommon replacement processes and texturally intriguing feldspar forms. Ideal for collectors with a focus on crystal morphology and mineralogical transformation.
