Duftite & Chrysocolla from Múzquiz, Mexico; 100 kg
Rare bulk material featuring vivid green Duftite and bright blue-green Chrysocolla fromthe well-known locality of Múzquiz, Coahuila, Mexico. This find is notable for the intense coloration of its copper- and arsenic-rich secondary minerals. Each kilogram contains several hand-picked pieces in varying sizes and crystal development.
The greenish-brown Duftite typically forms granular crusts on oxidized matrix, while the Chrysocolla appears as vein fillings or surface coatings with striking visual effect. This combination is not only aesthetically appealing but also mineralogically interesting due to its typical formation under supergene conditions.
Geology & Origin
The Múzquiz district in Coahuila, Mexico, is primarily known for its fluorite, but its oxidized copper zones also yield secondary minerals like Duftite and Chrysocolla. These form under supergene conditions when copper and arsenic interact during weathering. Duftite appears as green coatings in cavities, while Chrysocolla forms vibrant blue-green crusts or veins. This combination is rare for Múzquiz and adds variety to secondary copper assemblages.
