This specimen shows an intense sky-blue cupro-aragonite in botryoidal form. The strong color intensity gives the piece a particularly striking and attractive appearance.
The specimen comes from the Serpieri Mine at Laurion in Greece, a classic locality with a rich mining history that has been renowned since antiquity for its diverse mineral formations. Cupro-aragonite is a copper-bearing variety of aragonite, with its characteristic color caused by the presence of copper ions. Due to its rarity and vivid color, cupro-aragonite is considered a sought-after collector’s mineral from Laurion.
