Grape Agate from Indonesia – 2.64 kg unique piece

This vividly colored specimen is a so-called "Grape Agate" from Indonesia, featuring characteristic botryoidal aggregates in intense purple, green, and beige tones. The evenly developed spherical structures resemble clusters of grapes, giving the piece a highly sculptural and decorative appearance. Translucent violet areas blend into green zones, making this a remarkable and eye-catching collector's piece.

Geology & Origin

Indonesian Grape Agate is a variety of chalcedony formed through hydrothermal activity in volcanic rock. The rounded, grape-like shapes develop through concentric layering around microscopic crystallization centers. Major localities include Sulawesi and Java, where this material is sought after both for mineral collections and lapidary purposes.
