Manganese-bearing Aragonite xx; Pasta Bueno, Peru; Min; unique piece
Manganese-bearing Aragonite crystals from Pasto Bueno, Peru – miniature specimen as unique piece
This specimen shows several upright, pale pink Aragonite crystals, with their delicate coloration caused by the incorporation of manganese ions. The crystals are well developed, displaying pointed to tabular forms, and stand out in strong contrast to the darker matrix. Their elegant arrangement gives the piece a very aesthetic appearance.
The specimen comes from Pasto Bueno, Peru, a well-known locality for Aragonite and other carbonates. Aragonite crystallizes in the orthorhombic system and commonly occurs in prismatic or acicular habits. The slight manganese content imparts the distinctive pale pink color, making these crystals especially attractive for collectors.
This table is for general information and orientation, although the sizes of the stones may vary. In addition, this specification is handled differently from region to region.
