Embedded actinolite crystals from Itremo, Madagascar – small cabinet specimen as unique piece
This unique specimen shows greenish, lustrous actinolite crystals embedded in a light matrix. The crystals are predominantly prismatic and closely arranged, forming a fibrous to radiating structure. With their green coloration and silky luster, the crystals stand out clearly against the pale matrix, giving the piece an interesting and lively texture.
The specimen comes from Itremo in Madagascar, a well-known locality for amphiboles. Actinolite belongs to the amphibole group and crystallizes in the monoclinic system. It commonly occurs in metamorphic rocks such as schists and marbles, forming characteristic acicular to prismatic crystals. In this form, actinolite is both mineralogically significant and aesthetically appealing.
