The “Blue Lace” banded agate druzes originate from Mt. Malosa in the Zomba region of Malawi, a locality celebrated for its diverse silicate formations in pegmatitic and hydrothermal settings. Here, chalcedony sequences grew in shallow cavities, leaving characteristic druse-lined edges on microcrystalline matrix.

Banded agate, a variety of chalcedony, forms epitactic layer structures where repeating quartz layers stack over one another. Druzy surfaces feature countless tiny crystal points adhering to the matrix, creating a distinctive textured relief.
