Ankerite crystals from Cavnic, Romania – micromount as unique piece
This micromount features a cluster of brownish ankerite crystals clearly developed on a light matrix. The rhombohedral crystals are well-formed and create an attractive, contrasting surface.
Ankerite belongs to the carbonate group and crystallizes in the trigonal system. Its yellowish to brown coloration is typically caused by iron and manganese substitutions. Classic localities such as Cavnic in Romania have produced numerous aesthetic crystal specimens and are well-known for their diverse parageneses.
This table is for general information and orientation, although the sizes of the stones may vary. In addition, this specification is handled differently from region to region.
