Andalusite (Var. Viridine) from Västana, Sweden – small cabinet specimen as unique piece
This small cabinet specimen shows well-distributed greenish inclusions of Andalusite in the variety Viridine within a reddish-brown matrix. The strong color contrast between the vivid green Viridine and the reddish to violet host rock gives the piece a geologically interesting appearance. The specimen has a compact texture and originates from a classic Scandinavian locality.
Geology & Origin:
Viridine is a manganese-rich variety of Andalusite, distinguished by its green color compared to the usual pink to gray tones of Andalusite. At Västana, Sweden, this rare variety occurs in metamorphic rocks formed under regional metamorphic conditions. The locality is well known for its aesthetically contrasting mineral assemblages.
