Quartz xl, double-terminated; 1 lot with 31 pieces; unique
Quartz double-terminated crystals from Stolberg in the Harz Mountains – 1 unique lot with 31 pieces in a box
This collection contains several dozen small quartz crystals with characteristic double-terminated formation from the Stolberg area in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Each piece is individually mounted and neatly arranged in a clear display box. These crystals are commonly referred to as "Stolberg Diamonds," a regional term for naturally formed quartz with hexagonal outlines and symmetrical pyramid terminations.
The double-terminated quartz crystals formed during the Permian period along fault zones within the rhyolite of the Großer Auerberg near Stolberg. Rapid cooling of silica-rich melts at around 575 °C led to the development of these well-formed crystals, often clear to slightly grayish in color. Their striking symmetry, clarity, and natural aesthetics make them a geological highlight of the region. This box offers a representative and well-preserved example of these characteristic crystals from Stolberg.
