Pyrite crystals from Java (Central Java), Indonesia. 7.7 kg as unique piece.
This heavy Pyrite specimen from Java features a metallic, golden sheen with a typical fractured surface. The massive areas are embedded in dark matrix rock, showing a slightly lamellar texture. The piece stands out for its natural luster and strong coloration, making it both decorative and geologically interesting.
Geology & Origin:
In Central Java, Indonesia, Pyrite forms primarily in sedimentary rocks and shales through hydrothermal processes. Tropical weathering affects surface deposits significantly, so massive and well-preserved pieces like this usually originate from deeper zones. While Pyrite is widespread globally, large examples from Indonesia are relatively rare in the collector’s market.
Our raw stones are partially not cleaned. Possible impurities such as dust or dirt can be easily and quickly removed with water. This has no impact on the product quality.
To see the colors better, the stones are wetted for some pictures.
