Fossilized wood (petrified) with Quartz crystals from Java, Indonesia– 1.52 kg cabinet specimen as unique piece

This impressive cabinet specimen features a fossilized wood fragment penetrated and preserved by Quartz. The polished face reveals delicate concentric structures and striking color zoning in white, gray, and beige, along with a cavity containing sparkling Quartz crystals. The wood grain remains well defined, attesting to the exceptional preservation of the original tissue.

Geology & origin

The preserved fossil comes from Tertiary volcanic deposits on the Indonesian island of Java, where mineral-rich solutions gradually replaced organic matter with Quartz. The region is renowned for its geologically active setting and variety of fossilized woods, which are known for their aesthetic color patterns and detailed structural preservation.
