Kogarkoite from Alluaiv, Lovozero, Kola, Russia. Micromount as unique piece for mineral collectors.

Kogarkoite is an extremely rare silicate mineral that occurs exclusively in highly differentiated alkaline igneous complexes. This unique specimen comes from the renowned Alluaiv locality within the Lovozero Massif on the Kola Peninsula in Russia—one of the world’s most significant geological sources for rare and transition metal minerals.

Named after Mount Kogarkoït in the region where it was first identified, this mineral typically forms subtle but scientifically significant crystal aggregates. While often inconspicuous to the naked eye, its structural complexity becomes apparent under magnification. The crystals are colorless to pale yellow and may exhibit a silky luster. This particular piece features small crystal grains on matrix, perfect for microscopic study.

Kogarkoite is emblematic of the intricate mineralogy found in sodium-rich rock formations and holds special value for collectors focused on minerals from alkaline pegmatites and syenitic environments. The Alluaiv area remains one of the most thoroughly studied localities in the Kola geological province and continues to yield rare and exotic species.

This specimen is an excellent addition to systematic mineral collections, educational displays, or as a reference sample for academic research. Its combination of origin, mineralogical rarity, and scientific relevance makes it a true asset for advanced collectors and professionals alike.
