This small cabinet specimen features Zinclipscombite from the Silver Coin Mine in Nevada, USA. The rare mineral occurs as dark embedded crystal areas within a light to greenish gray matrix. Geology & Origin
Zinclipscombite is a rare zinc iron phosphate belonging to the Lipscombite group and forms under oxidizing conditions in phosphate rich mineral deposits. The Silver Coin Mine in Nevada is known for a variety of unusual secondary minerals formed through the alteration of primary ore minerals. Due to its rarity, Zinclipscombite is considered a desirable specialty among collectors of rare phosphate minerals.
