Aubrites are extremely rare stony meteorites composed almost entirely of the light silicate mineral enstatite. They contain little to no metallic iron, which gives them a very pale to white, often porcelain-like appearance. As achondrites, they lack chondrules and originate from differentiated asteroids that have undergone melting processes separating crust and mantle. The name of this meteorite class derives from the locality of Aubres in France, where such a meteorite was first described.
