Fluorapatite crystals from Mina Siglo Veinte, Llallagua, Bolivia – cabinet specimen as unique piece

This interesting cabinet specimen originates from the famous Mina Siglo Veinte tin deposit near Llallagua, Bolivia. Several light colored Fluorapatite crystals are clearly visible within a natural cavity in the dark matrix, creating an attractive contrast with the surrounding rock. The crystals display prismatic forms with pale, slightly translucent faces that give the specimen a distinctive appearance. The open cavity structure further enhances the aesthetic appeal and provides an excellent example of natural crystal growth within the host rock.

Geology & Origin

The Llallagua mining district is one of the world's most significant tin producing regions. The mineralization formed through hydrothermal processes in which hot mineral rich fluids deposited numerous ore and accessory minerals within fractures and cavities. Fluorapatite, a fluorine bearing calcium phosphate, occasionally develops well formed crystals in these open spaces. Mina Siglo Veinte is renowned for its mineralogical diversity and has produced many rare and highly collectible mineral specimens for collectors worldwide.
