Cafarsite crystals from Cherbadung, Binntal, Switzerland – cabinet specimen as unique piece

This impressive cabinet specimen features numerous Cafarsite crystals on light alpine matrix from the classic Cerbadung locality in Switzerland's Binntal region. The dark brown to nearly black crystals display strong luster and the sharp crystal forms characteristic of Cafarsite. Several larger crystals are accompanied by numerous smaller crystals distributed attractively across the specimen. The crystals are clearly visible and create a striking contrast against the pale matrix, giving the piece an especially appealing and collectible appearance.

Geology & Origin

The Binntal region is one of the world's most important localities for rare arsenate and silicate minerals. Alpine fissures formed during the uplift of the Alps provided ideal conditions for the crystallization of numerous exceptional mineral species. Cafarsite is a rare calcium iron arsenate silicate renowned for its distinctive crystal morphology. The Cherbadung locality is considered one of the classic occurrences of this mineral and has produced many outstanding collector specimens. Well-crystallized Cafarsite specimens from Binntal are highly regarded by mineral collectors worldwide.
